Shawna’s Walk for Wishes
October 9th, 2010
The CCE along with Chi Omega, assisted Shawna Cummings and her family with the 1st annual Shawna’s Walk for Wishes. Many local businesses and volunteers made the walk a huge success. The total raised was $12,000, which is enough to fund wishes for two children in St. Lawrence County who have life threatening medical conditions. Dress the Turkey Fundraiser
In November 2010 the Community Mentors raised money for the Church and Community Program Holiday Baskets. This is the 2nd year the CM’s have held this fundraiser. Each basket provided enough food to feed a family of four during the holidays. The CM’s held a “Dress the Turkey” fundraiser where people could purchase a “feather” to place on a turkey sculpture. The total raised was $245.

Festival of Community Based Learning
December 7-9, 2010
Students showcased their CBL experiences through poster and oral presentations. Approximately 180 First-Year students presented on Tuesday and Thursday and 30 Non First-Year students presented on Wednesday. Community Partners, Faculty, Staff and Students all came to learn about how these students made a difference in the community during the Fall 2010 semester. The next Festival of CBL will be held on Monday, May 2nd, from 6-8pm in Eben Holden. All are invited to attend.

February, 2011 Dorm Storm
The community mentors organized and implemented a dorm storm across the St. Lawrence University campus  in order to raise money to aid a local family whose house had been devastated by fire.  The dorm storm was a success with the student body donating $300 to the family in need.
