Gabriel: Good evening, thank you for tuning in tonight to CB Sports. I am Floridian Gabriel Colas and this is my co-host Floridian Carlos Cruz.

Carlos: Good evening my not so lucky non Floridians.

Gabriel/Carlos: Laugh

Gabriel: Tonight, we are going to talk about an athlete. Not just any type of athlete, but a Floridian athlete.

Carlos: Well the state of Florida does give birth to the greatest athletes in the country. But tonight, we are going to speak about the o so controversial Donavon Edwards, Tight End out of Coral Springs Florida. His football athletic ability has giving his audiences a reason to want to watch sports.

Gabriel: I wouldn’t say he is a tremendous athlete but when it comes down to it, it is safe to say that he does his thing on the field. If you know what I mean. Laugh. Clear throat. And I am referring to football here.

Carlos: Confused looks at Gabriel Well let’s take a look at what some of the people have to say about Donavon Edwards.

VIDEO START- Natalie Interview
Interviewer (Alcee): So what do you think of Donavon Edwards?

Natalie: He’s one of the coolest dudes I know, he’s a great golfer.

Interviewer (Alcee): He’s a football player.

Natalie: Well that’s what I meant. Do know what type of soup their having at the Time Out Café today?

Interviewer (Alcee): We are doing a recording live on Donavon Edwards. Cant that wait?

Natalie: I was just asking what kind of soup they had, why are you giving me an attitude?

Interviewer(Alcee): Stressed out Their having Clam Chowder mam.

Natalie: Yes! Umm what were we talking about again?

Interviewer(Alcee): Donavon, Mr. Edwards.

Natalie: O, this one time I saw him slam some guy into the ground. And I don’t know why but I’m really good at reading lips and I am pretty sure he said “Sit down when you pee”. I don’t know why though, it was weird.

Interviewer(Alcee): Confused look What
VIDEO END

Gabriel: Floridian Carlos, did she just say “Sit down when you pee”?

Carlos: Yep, I am pretty sure that is what she said Floridian Gabriel.

Gabriel: Confused Hmm, well moving on. This 6’1, 240 LB athlete does indeed drive his defenders into the ground during the biggest of games that comes forth to the St Lawrence University Saints. Lets take a look at some of his blocking highlights.

Carlos: Hercules! Hercules! Like Eddie Murphy

Gabriel: Clears throat Well as I was saying, the highlights please.

VIDEO START-Blocking highlights
VIDEO END

Carlos: And we’re back

Gabriel: Oh my, as you can see. Donavon Edwards definitely knows how to have his way with his opponents. Laugh. You got to love talking football, wouldn’t you agree Floridian Carlos Cruz?

Carlos: Absolutely, that’s why I’m in this business. Laugh. But getting back to Donavon, I believe he had a pretty good season and think he will be even better next year.

Gabriel: Under your breath Yea if gets out of study hall.

Carlos: What was that?

Gabriel: Come on Carlos, you know he’s been in study hall for the past four years.

Carlos: He’s a junior, how can it be four years?

Gabriel: Exactly, if this kid doesn’t get his grades up, there will be no better football season for him.

Carlos: I agree, but he’s an athlete. You know that can be taken cared of. Laugh

Gabriel: You know what Floridian Carlos, your absolutely right. It’s a celebration. But now, lets see what others have to say about Donavon.

VIDEO START- Stanley Interview

Interviewer(Alcee): Hi there Stan Da Man, hey quick question for you. Tell me what do you think about Donavon Edwards? Stan grabs mic. Whoa whoa, calm down buddy, calm down.

Stanley: Yo Donavon’s my boy, we been on the team together since freshman year. I remember this one game he had dropped a pass and I told him that if he didn’t make up for it that I wouldn’t chill wit him anymore. But he surely went out there and caught a big first down catch in the third quarter and that resulted in a touchdown. But I must’ve been laughing when I told him that I wasn’t gunna chill wit him anymore. But I’m serious, I don’t chill it scrubs.

Interviewer(Alcee): Awkward laugh. Great story there Stan da Man. Hey check this out they have that Clam Chowder soup down at the Time Out Café, you wanna go grab a bite to eat? Chicken salad with grapes, pita bread it’s amazing.

Stanley: Yo you don’t have to school me on Time Out, I know it’s good. No thanks bro, I don’t chill with scrubs.

Interviewer(Alcee): Sad look
VIDEO END

Carlos: Laugh Didn’t that girl from Tic Toc say that to you last weekend Floridian Gabriel?

Gabriel: Yeah, so I took your wife home instead. Laugh.

Carlos: Touché, Laugh.

Gabriel: Laugh.

Carlos: Well like Stan da Man said Donavon’s catching ability is up to par. It just amazes me that he doesn’t get the ball more. He would be my go-to short yardage receiver every time.

Gabriel: He has a big body that just makes his way through people. If you know what I mean. Laugh. Clear throat. And I am referring to football here.

Carlos: Confused looks at Gabriel Well let’s take a look at Donavon’s catching ability from some of these clips of him playing at St Lawrence University.

VIDEO START-Catching highlights
VIDEO END

Gabriel: What an athlete. Did you see the one that was tipped about three or four times?

Carlos: Indeed I did, Floridian Gabriel.

Gabriel: You know what Floridian Carlos?

Carlos: What’s that?

Gabriel: Watching all these highlights reminds me of my days back in little league. I was the biggest kid on the team. My mom convinced the coach that I had some type of disability that made me that big and that I was the same age as everyone else when in reality I was three years older. That idiot fell for it and I became MVP my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year of elementary school. Laugh. Memories, memories. Sometimes I wish I could go back.

Carlos: What? Are you serious?

Gabriel: Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?

Carlos: Clear throat. Never mind, I guess its one of those things you need a second opinion on. But in other words, Donavon Edwards, the talk of the town. This kid is going to be great and I hope he continues to climb up among the rankings.

Gabriel: Cutting him off. You know he’s Jamaican right?

Carlos: Well I do, but I was saying the final statements.

Gabriel: Yea but I thought it would be a cool fun fact to add in there.

Carlos: Very well, the Jamaican Floridian athlete Donavon Edwards has been the focus for the night. Good luck to him next season. Thank you all for tuning in tonight for another episode of CB Sports Good night from me Floridian Carlos Cruz and my co-host Floridian Gabriel Colas.

Gabriel: Goodnight. Laugh. And “sit down when you pee”!

Last night was yet another long night in the NCAT. I stayed until 1:30am editing my videos and making sure that they are the best they can be. Then, it was time to plug them all into IDVD. It took about 15 minutes to test out the different types of menu layouts they had and I choice to go with one of the 6.0 themes. So I plugged everything in and starting burning. I burned multiple DVD’s and went to a group meeting I had for another class. Unfortunately I remembered in that meeting that I had no credits for my project. This hurt my head a lot. So I went back to the NCAT library, created an intro and a credits file from IMOVIE and saved them on the scratch drive. Then I asked the teacher in the upstairs NCAT room to use the computer that my files were to burn my project over again and she said yes. So now I am awaiting a few more DVD’s to be burned and hopefully have a successful project from it all. After this I plan to go back to my room, work on the poster for the live performance, and meet with my live actors later tonight to rehearse their lines.

I am finally down to converting my last football game from the DVD. The converting program I have is only a trial, so each DVD takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to rip off of the DVD. I choice to covert it to an mp4 format since it is compatible tot he MAC computer. But it turned out that file is not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. So i wasted an hour and fifteen minutes of my time converting it to mp4. Now I am waiting for it to be converted again, but this time it is in the format of AVI. Hopefully this will work better.

My next step after I have a successful file compatible with Windows Movie Maker is to cut up the parts of the film that I believe is a highlight of mine. This process usually takes about an hour. Then, I will be going to the NCAT computer library this afternoon after I am finished these cut-ups to add them into my project. In addition, to make finalization’s to my video work and put it all on a DVD. This step of my project I am very excited about

Coming to class on Tuesday, I was somewhat excited that the majority of my video work was going to be put onto the NCAT computer. I uploaded them happily, but sadly realized that my uploaded videos into IMOVIE displayed an advertising logo. I was furious since it took me a few days to edit those videos and I possibly would have to do it all over again. I anxiously waited for Greg M to get to class and I told him my problem as soon as he got there. The credibility that I have formed for him just continuously rises since he fixes all of the problems I have on the computer. The solution was converting the files from the Windows Media Player format to one that the Mac computer complies with. This process took longer but I was just happy that I did not have to do all of the editing all over again. This assignment took the rest of the class period.

My planned day for recording was scheduled for Tuesday, December 2nd. I happily received the camera from Greg M close to the end of class that day. I tried contacting my actors and they all failed me because they were busy. But what I later realized was that I could not have started recording in the first place. I have two interviews in my video recording and I failed to recognize earlier that I need a prop microphone. I contacted my classmate Liz and she referred me to John Larrance. I sent him an email and he took care of me. i went to go pick up the microphone the next day and started recording 30 minutes later. I set up my first interview on the football field and was successful after a few takes. My second interview was later on the afternoon and that one took forever. This was also took place on the football field until it was getting dark and needed somewhere else to shoot. We needed some good takes without mess-ups so we went to the weight room. The staff thankfully let us go the back weight room to record where only varsity sports teams with coaches are allowed. This was also a long process recording in there because my friends find the simplest of things funny and we would have to start over continuously. We got it done about an hour later and I was stressed, but I think I was more happy that it was over than stressed.

Thursdays class came and I needed to get the footage off of the camera and start editing. I found out the NCAT was not going to be open Friday and Saturday so I needed to get on my grind. But then I received a miracle because Professor Daniels said that the following class was canceled which meant we could stay in the lab as long as we wanted. It took almost the whole class period to get the clips off the camera that I needed. But after that it was crunch time. I just continued editng my videos until I felt that I was comfortable leaving it where it was. I ended up missing a final presentation meeting with my group for another class and leaving the NCAT at 6:40pm straight from entering class at 12:40pm. Project work was still not done after that, I had to walk over to Augsbury and get the final football game from my football coach that I have been tracking down for weeks. There were rumors said that they lost it but I contiuned to be on their backs to find it. So i picked up the DVD, went to go eat dinner, took a shower, and went to bed with a headache.

Success! I have successfully found all the perfect music clips for my project. Not only that, but I have been able to download all of them onto my computer. The process took two days of browsing songs from off of youtube to find the clips that would fit perfectly into my project. I thought the process would have been done a lot quicker but all the rest just had something wrong with each clip that I had listened to before. They just did not fit into my perception of the ideal ideal music clip for the different sections of my assignment. I have chosen the songs “Get Up” by 50 Cent, “Balla Baby” by Chingy, and “We So Fly” by Soulja Boy. The “Get Up” clip will be played during by blocking football highlights, the track “Balla Baby” wiill be played during my catching football highlights, and the track “We So Fly” will be used as the intro and conclusion audio of my sportscenter themed broadcast. I am very happy with what I have found and believe they all will contribute to a very exciting project that will make everyone want to stay tuned and not want to turn that channel dial. Now I am going to email my actors the script so that they can study it for the video recordings. I will start recording in a few days, so stay tuned!

This marks the completion of cutting up the clips of my second and third football game. These games were not as long as the others which meant it did not take me as long to cut each of these films like the first one. I definitely have a headache. Besides that, my project work will have to face a decrease in production from this point on. The last film that I need to cut up is not in my hands. I requested a specific football game from one of my football coaches the Friday before Thanksgiving break and the film turned out to be the wrong one when I looked at it. It was too late to get the right copy by the time I noticed so that film will have to wait till I get back to school so that I can get a copy of it. I believe what I will work on tomorrow is deciding on what music clips I want to include in my film. They will most likely be used to accompany my football highlights because my football clips are completely silent. I think a type of upbeat type of music will excite the project and contribute to the perception that I want others to have when watching my presentation. It will most likely be some type of rap or hip hop since that is the genre of music that I listen to most. Otherwise, I am a bit nervous about what the timing will look like in the finale of my project. I have clips that will range form one to two minutes each but I think the editing I do in the NCAT lab to spice it up will definitely increase my time. And that is one thing that I am very happy about! O boy, I am hungry. Goodnight everyone.

Today marks the first day of cutting up my highlights from my converted football DVD’s files. It was a lot more work than i expected it to be. I dont know why but the converted DVD’s were broken down into a lot of different clips. The game I cut up today was broken down into 135 individual clips. I had to go through and play each clip, determine if it was a highlight, and then cut it out perfectly so that it did not mix into other clips. So going through each of those 135 clips was the most aggravating aspect of todays’s work. I broke the highlights down into blocking highlights and catching highlights, then converted them out of Windows Movie Maker files into files that would be playable on different computers that do not have Windows Media Player. I plan on only breaking down one game a day so that I do not overwork myself and want to blow up my computer. So since football game cut up number one is now over with, time for rest.

VIDEO START- Natalie Interview

Interviewer (Alcee): So what do you think about Donavon?

Natalie: Donavon is one of the coolest dudes I know, he’s a great golfer.

Interviewer (Alcee): He’s a football player.

Natalie: O yeah that’s what I meant. I’m kind of hungry, do know what type of soup their serving at the Time Out Café today?

Interviewer (Alcee): We are doing a piece on Donavon Edwards and recording live. Cant that wait?

Natalie: Why are you getting an attitude!? All I did was ask you what type of soup they were having today!

Interviewer(Alcee): Stressed out New England Clam Chowder mam

Natalie: Yes! But what were we talking about?

Interviewer(Alcee): Donavon Edwards

Natalie: O yeah, Oh my gosh I remember one time I saw him like hit this kid and drove him into the ground. Then he got up, stood over the kid and said something to him. I don’t know why but I am really good at reading lips and I am pretty sure that he said “Sit down when you pee”. I don’t know why though, it was just weird.

Interviewer(Alcee): Confused look

Interviewer(Alcee): So what do you think about Donavon?

Stanley: O Donavon’s my boy, we been on the team together since freshman year. I remember there was a game that Donavon had dropped a ball in and I told him that I wouldn’t chill wit him anymore if he didn’t make up for it. He looked at me as if I was crazy or something. But you know, without a doubt he went back out there and caught a big first down catch in the third quarter on third down to continue the drive. And that drive resulted in a touchdown. So he did what he had to do and we still chill. But even though I was laughing when I told him I wouldn’t chill wit him anymore if he didn’t make up for it, I was serious. I don’t chill it scrubs.

Interviewer(Alcee): Awkward laugh. What a story Stan da Man. Pause. But you know I think they have that New England Clam Chowder soup at the Time Out Café today, you wanna go get some lunch? That chicken salad with grapes on a pita is amazing.

Stanley: Yo you don’t need to lecture me on Time Out, I know its good. But no, I don’t chill with scrubs.

Interviewer(Alcee): Sad look

VIDEO END

Carlos: Laugh Didn’t that girl from Tic Toc say that to you last weekend Floridian Gabriel?

Gabriel: No, I’m Floridian.

Carlos: My apologies, it must have been New Yorkan Christian Lopez.

Gabriel: Wow, again. Laugh.

Success! I finally have a ripped and converted copies of my football games on my computer. It was a long and stressful process but the good aftermath feeling is good. Like I was told, I downloaded a program that would be able to rip the football games from the DVD’s and convert them to a compatible format. I had about four different DVD’s and each of them took about two hours each to be ripped and converted to my computer because the software was only a trial. The process would have gone by a lot faster if I had the complete software program on my computer. Even though the files lost some of the quality during the process, I am just happy that the files are off of the DVD’s. Nevertheless, I believe that the whole process of downloading a DVD ripper resulted in me getting some type of virus on my computer. I tried scanning my computer multiple times and deleting the virus but it was undeletable. It caused my computer to lose access to the internet for hours until I decided to take it to IT and have them take a look at it. My computer is still a bit slower but it at least can now access the internet. Till this point in time I still do not know if my computer still has this virus but I will be working on it tonight. In addition to that, I am going to start trying to cut up the football film to access the parts of the film I want to put in my project and keep everyone updated on that.

Creating the script was quite difficult because it entailed a lot brainstorming. I had to decide on the types of communication that i wanted to include in my sportscenter theme final project. Nevertheless, the more i wrote the more ideas came jumping into my head to make it an exciting performance. My script is now complete and this part of the project takes a lot of stress off of my back. In addition to that, the process of video transferring is becoming a bit stressful. I have about four different DVD’s that has my football games on them. I need to rip the files from the DVD, convert the file, cut the specific parts of the game that i need, and put them into their different categories. I need to create a category for my blocking highlights, catching highlights, and two different interviews. The Mac computers in the NCAT lab do not have any programs that rips the files from a DVD and Greg, the class computer genie, translates that these computers do not have such software becuase they do not want to get tied into any type of illegal movie copyrights. He said my alternative was to download some type of software on my own computer to follow through with my project objectives.
