As I follow the student blogs about the final projects for this class, it’s clear that things are moving along…perhaps not as quickly as some would like (and isn’t that always the way when new technology is involved), but forward momentum is happening, nonetheless. I’m really starting to get even more excited about these projects, and I’m really looking foward to seeing them soon. It’s only three weeks (including our Thanksgiving break week!) until the showcase performance night!

Posted by: rdaniels | November 13, 2008 | No Comment |Each one of my students now has a solid idea of what s/he is going to do for the final showcase projects. You can check out their ongoing process journals in the blog links on the right side of this page if you are interested. The technical details are starting to fall into place, we have a master planning calendar, and I’m getting really excited for the showcase performance in a few weeks!

Theatre and Technology Class
Posted by: rdaniels | November 4, 2008 | No Comment |Welcome to the site for my special topics course: Theatre and Technology (PCA 313C) at St. Lawrence University. Here’s some information from the course syllabus:
This class is an exploratory, highly experimental seminar in which we will all be learning together about the ways theatre and technology can and do intersect. In many instances, I will be doing the reading and research for the first time with all of you. During the first part of the semester we will explore the history of “multi-media” performance in the theatrical world as well as the complex interaction of live performance, video and Internet technology in today’s theatre world. During the second part of the semester you will develop your own original performance pieces, using both live actors and some kind of technological interaction within the performance.
