Volunteering at our Hospital will allow you to join a team of people dedicated to high-quality patient care.  It is our belief that working together as a team and sharing a common objective of excellent service has earned Canton-Potsdam Hospital the recognition of being one of the finest health care providers in the region.

To apply online, please visit our website http://www.cphospital.org, click “Support the Hospital,” and then “Become a Volunteer.”

There are number of volunteer opportunities at the hospital.  A few of these opportunities are as follows:

  • Clinical volunteers are entrusted with work that will contribute in a meaningful way to the success of our organization.  Duties may not always be glamorous; however, this service is important to our nursing staff.  Assignments may include helping pass trays, moving patients, walking with patients, answering call lights, helping clean patients and break rooms, escorting discharged patients to vehicles, and running errands.
  • Gift Cart Delivery volunteers are needed to help reach those patients who cannot make it to the gift shop.  The gift cart is taken to the first and second floors of the hospital and the time required is approximately 60 minutes.  The gift cart volunteer may also be called upon to deliver patient mail, bedside cards and flowers.  Various shifts are available mornings and afternoons, Monday through Sunday.
  • Gift Shop volunteers are needed to assist in the gift shop operated by the Potsdam Hospital Guild.  Volunteers are responsible for all aspects of the shop, including sales, ordering, inventory, and scheduling.   Volunteers are especially needed for weekday evenings and weekend shifts as it is important to patients and their visitors that the shop maintain daily service year-round (including weekends and holidays).  In-shop volunteers receive a 20% discount! All proceeds from the shop benefit the hospital.
  • Volunteers need their own transportation to sites.
