North Country Studies Awards

Each year FODYLL presents award to two student research efforts, the North Country Studies Award in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the North Country Studies Award in the Sciences.  We invite students from across the campus community to submit work, and in doing so get a chance to see their creativity…pure and simple, it’s a chance for us to sample how the students are rendering their academic careers by the work they do.  It’s also a chance to showcase original work about this region.  This year we again saw excellent projects, and they are presented to you here:

Culture of Silence: Mining in the North Country and Living on the Periphery
by Erin Panek

Habitat Defragmentation in the North Country
by Hannah Follender and Kristi Onzik
