If you’re a fan of music and writing, you won’t want to miss out on the coming week of events here at SLU. Rest up and polish off those Laurentian Magazine submissions early on because they’re due Friday and you won’t have a moment to spare come the end of the week. Don’t miss Marc McKee’s poetry reading in Herring Cole at 4:30pm on Thursday as the second installment of the Laurentian’s Young Artist Series. The party heats up that night at 9 with the the Java Barn’s first Open Mic of the semester. Friday evening ACE presents fall concert headliner Santigold with guest Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad. Tickets are $10, available all week at the student center info desk. Saturday night, head over to the Java Barn once more, where Start Making Sense, a Talking Heads tribute band, will be taking the stage at 10pm. To quote PCA professor Kirk Fuoss, “Stay safe, stay sane, stay sober, stay out of jail.” I figure most of us Saints will do fine with three of the four.
